Menies or Diktynna is located 45 km northwest of Chania, at the northeastern tip of Cape Rhodopou. It is a wonderful secluded beach with pebbles and deep clear blue waters. It is not affected by the usual winds of the area and it is an ideal destination for relaxation, far away from the urban centers. About 1 km southwest of the beach, there is the very old monastery of Agios Georgios. It was built in the 9th century but was abandoned after the constant raids of the pirates. A fortified tower of the 16th century in the precincts of the monastery, warned of the arrival of enemy or pirate ships. The Menies are located at the site of Ancient Diktynna. Diktynna was the most important sanctuary of the goddess Britomartis, who has been combined with the goddess Artemis, which received believers from all the widths and lengths of the island. Vritomartis was worshiped here in Hellenistic and Roman Era. There are still a few ruins from the ancient Roman temple, while the ruins of the Hellenistic temple are being sought.

Kalathas

Kalathas is only 10 km from Chania, which makes it one of the most popular destinations for those who want to go for a quick swim. Here are three relatively small beaches with thin golden sand. The one in the middle is the larger and the most popular. The southern beach is more beautiful and less crowded, while the last one is at the exit of a small stream and it is usually empty. The most recognizable feature of Kalathas is a small islet which is only 110 m from the beach and you can easily swim to it.

Seitan Limania

Seitan Limania are located on the northeast side of the peninsula Akrotiri in western Crete, 20 kilometers from the city of Chania. There, strips of sea penetrate between the steep rocky shores of Akrotiri creating small bays. The location is known as Seitan Limania or the beach of Stefanos Seitan. The word Seitan is Turkish, which apparently has remained from the period of Turkish rule in Crete, and is translated as Devil. Therefore, Seitan Limania are translated as Devil's Ports.
